2012 was a great year for me. I started looking for fun things to buy. I then searched “awesome stuff you can buy”. After seeing many sites that only used Amazon’s affiliate program, I realized there was potential.

The site currently brings in approximately $1,000 per month (with holiday months sometimes jumping up to closer to $7,000), which I find to be a nice side income.

It’s not $130,000 per month like others. But it’s still rewarding to share my knowledge online (in an enjoyable way for me) and get paid!

I had been posting products for four months before the site saw any traction.

It was simple to make your traffic explode using StumbleUpon in 2012. So when the time was right, I submitted it to StumbleUpon.

Keep at it if you are building something you believe will bring value. I would not be where I am today if I had given up three months into my project.

My extra income comes mainly from appearing in Google search results. This guide will explain how I choose blog niches, use keyword research to find product opportunities, and write articles.

How to find your Amazon Affiliate Marketing Website “Niche”.

If you are interested in a particular topic (yoga, kettlebells or photography), there will always be more content available.

If you’re only looking to make money, I wouldn’t advise you to pursue a niche. It’s important to feel passionate about the topic that you’re writing about. It is better to make a few extra hundred dollars per year by blogging about a topic that you are passionate about than to become bored with a topic that you don’t know much about.

Let’s assume you are interested in Netflix. Even something so simple has huge potential for articles.

There are many topics that you can choose from, such as the best Netflix movies, top Netflix shows, and best Netflix movies for kids.

To find out how difficult it is to rank for certain terms and to determine the search volume, you can free of charge use a keyword finder tool such as Ahrefs or Moz.

Moz even offers search suggestions that you can use when writing your articles. Although you will only receive a small amount of data, it is enough to get you started and provide guidance.

Moz suggested that “best Netflix movies” be renamed to “best Netflix teen movies”. This is a smaller category and easier to rank.

Although these longer phrases are less searched, the difficulty of ranking is lower for them. Slowly increasing your site’s rank for longer terms is possible due to the slow land grab.

Many Niches also have lots of space for videos. If you think you’d be good on camera, making affiliate income on YouTube is always an option.

How to creatively write your affiliate articles

Writing without thinking about a person is a big mistake that I see when people start out. Consider what someone might Google to find your article. Think backward.

Google the terms that you wish to rank for, and then study the top results. A small article won’t likely make Google rank your site higher than well-researched articles.

As an example, we’ll use the “best teen movies available on Netflix”. Quickly looking through search results, I can see that most articles contain around 15 movies. If I can write a better article with more information and a better format, I will rank higher than the larger pages.

Your articles should be as detailed as possible. Articles of 2000 words or more should be your goal, as articles that are around 2000 words rank higher.

After mastering your writing, elements such as photos, graphics, and layout are crucial. It is important to look at the pages of your competitors and learn what works.

A giant red button for each Netflix video would be a great idea. As I was creating Awesome Stuff to Buy, I noticed that clicking the next page was too frustrating so I created infinite scrolling.

I have articles about places to photograph. I was frustrated by the lack of Google Maps links on other sites so I added them.

It’s not hard to find those pain points. If a user clicks on your article in a search and hits the back button, that causes Google to recognize that your page isn’t what they were searching for. It’s a huge bonus to keep users on your page by providing the information they require. This guide to Google Maps marketing offers more ideas.

It is important to revisit a piece you’ve written once it has been published. Even if the article doesn’t rank in Google at first, updating it over time to include more content can lead to success.

Tips to promote your affiliate content

Sign up for Google Webmasters Tools as soon as your site is ready to be shared with the world. If you are using WordPress, you can provide Google with your sitemap.

To promote your products on social media, you can also use Quuu. Once they approve your content, they will share it through their network of people who have shared their content. This source doesn’t bring in a lot of traffic, but it’s a great way to get started.

It is important to build relationships within your niche. You can make connections with people who are posting similar content and work together to create guest posts for their blogs. You’ll be contributing to their blog and this is a great way for backlinks. You could also guest post on a large article about “best kettlebells for beginners”, for instance, to people interested in health and kettlebell exercises tips. It is important to build backlinks to your site and article in order to rank high in Google search results.

My experience has shown that when you write a detailed post of 2000+ words, you will slowly increase your rank as you add more content.

You should also make sure to update your pages regularly for maximum accuracy. I have a page on vlogging cameras. Every time a new camera falls into this category, I add it to my checklist and make improvements. This tells Google that the content is related to the parent topic and that it’s an up-to-date piece of content.

If you are using Yoast, fill out all meta information. It’s simple to add a description and meta title. This information will be displayed by Google so it’s important to complete. The meta description allows you to compare your title with other articles that rank for the same term.

Pinterest is another important thing to remember. I make Pinterest-specific images for almost all my posts. You don’t need to be an expert in Adobe Photoshop to create images. Canva is a free online tool that allows you to make them. You can also add pin buttons to WordPress blogs with a variety of WordPress plugins. You can use Pinterest in many ways to drive traffic. How to become an Amazon affiliate

After you have learned how to build a website, and then how to grow your site to over 100 visitors per day with strategies such as guest blogging and SEO, I recommend that you join the Amazon Affiliate Network. Your site will be removed from the affiliate network if it has low traffic or users don’t click on your Amazon links.

Amazon will give you the website list you’ll advertise on when you sign up. They won’t approve a site if it isn’t of high quality. This is why it is so important to start with a few articles.

You can also choose your Amazon tag during the sign-up process to use for affiliate links. This is a simple query string that you add to URLs such as “?tag=yourtag-20”. It’s easy to add this to Amazon URLs after signing up to create affiliate links.

Once your account is approved, you can start posting affiliate links to your site. You’ll need to include a disclaimer regarding your affiliate links in order not to get kicked out of the network. Ryan provided an example disclaimer at top of the article.

You can also be removed from Amazon’s Affiliate Network if you link to products in email marketing (email marketing), cloaking, including eBook links, or not including a disclaimer. Before you post links to Amazon products, it is important that you are familiar with Amazon’s guidelines.

GeneratePress is one of the most popular WordPress themes that I use to launch my projects. This theme provides a clean and simple platform to launch your website. You can also expand the page builder to create more complicated layouts. Elementor is a great tool to create landing pages. It allows you to drag and drop pages. ).

Yoast SEO is an essential feature for all WordPress sites. It allows you to have complete control over page titles, descriptions, and the pages that are indexed. This is essential for WordPress sites that want to rank high. Yoast SEO will also create a sitemap you can submit to Google Webmasters. This will allow Google to index all your pages.

Automated Post Scheduler: This plugin automatically sets publish dates for WordPress posts that are queued. This plugin is perfect if you have a large website that is constantly updating content.

Media File Renamer: This removes the need to manually rename every image file. Although I recommend manual renaming images, I highly recommend this for SEO. It will automatically rename files to correspond to the post they are attached.

Requirements checklist: This is a great way to make sure that posts have certain requirements (tags, featured images, body text, etc.).

Ahrefs is a great tool for brainstorming article ideas and finding low-hanging fruit for my website. Ahrefs is $99 per month and I recommend it only to those who have sites that generate revenue.

Google the niche you are trying to find. For example, “Best Drones” is one of the most popular searches. A site that focuses on drones under $200 is a popular topic. This quick search shows me.

Ahrefs excels at identifying the top pages of competitors and learning about what works in your niche. Ahrefs is also a great tool to identify keywords that I rank in the top 5-8 positions of Google. This allows me to identify pages that I can invest a bit of time on and get big results by moving up a few places.

5. WordPress Hosting.

If you are looking to start a WordPress website, I recommend that you use a premium WordPress host such as WPEngine or Kinsta. These hosting plans offer the best web hosting options from reliable companies. Cheap hosting will eventually cost you dearly. I have seen too many people use cheap hosting. Google will rank you based on site speed. You can also use HTTPS, which many premium hosts will manage for you.

6. CDN & Performance

Cloudflare accounts are a must-have for every website. Cloudflare will give you a speed boost and security that requires almost no effort. Cloudflare offers one option: make your wp/content/uploads directory fully cached using page rules. Cloudflare will serve all images stored in cache as a free CDN. It’s also very easy to set up. Cloudflare accounts cost $20/m and automatically compress images as you go.
